tuesday morning in kisii : )
ahh, kenya. it is good to see you again. the sights, sounds, smells, friendliness, people out everywhere, the extreme need, and service oriented hearts...... nothing has changed.
we had a smooth (and crazy awfully long) trip over. it has been so great seeing lydia and luke take it all in. it is wild to me how normal this life feels almost immediately. they seriously have been naturals.
we arrived in nairobi late friday night, and stayed in a really posh apartment. had dinner at the rooftop restaurant. it was very good to get sleep right away! saturday, faithful and fun justin, drove us on the six hour drive over to kisii. we are staying at itibo (home!) because the missionary apartment at the property wasn't ready yet, and staying there would have made it harder for the workers to finish the tile, painting, and flooring.
i love itibo. He truly does know the desires of our heart : )
sunday morning, our new driver, alex, scooped us up for a full day. it would be impossible to relay how grateful we are for how things worked out regarding alex.... he had applied for the driver and groundsman position, so michelle thought that this was a perfect on the job interview opportunity. he has been a Godsend. he took us to a long and lively (!) church service, then to richard & jackie's place for surprise visit, and then to the property.
you may remember richard and jackie. they have taken in fifteen orphans. their hearts are huge and their pocketbooks are not. some of the kids have in His hands sponsors which helps a little. twelve of the girls will be first to move to the rescue center in mid august. there's always one kiddo that captures your heart above the rest, and for me, the one at richard and jackie's is sarah. she never left my lap.
the photo dump has many street pictures because the streets are always alive!!!! luke and i hear people yell "mzungu" so many times lol! white person! it is just so rare to see a white s skinned person, they are surprised by it!
the property! it is coming along and is going to be AMAZING!!! luke has his drone and has captured the awesomeness. i hope to link to it tomorrow. lydia is posting often on facebook and insta, so if you are interested, follow her! (lydia mahilet schirmer)
monday we spent a full day at the property. alex for the major win! he is epitome of hard working african! he started digging post holes with his machete immediately. our focus this week is goat pen. it will be 120' x 120'. he and luke built the front section which had no fencing. it is so awesome! i really thought there was no way they could make this happen in the week that luke was here. but alas!
we went by grocery store on the way home and were, as always, absolutely exhausted. jet lag isn't awful and.... it takes time internally for your body to adjust.
enjoying another delicious spread of breakfast foods, and heading out to property.
and we still need supplies!!!!! please help!!!!

beautiful place. beautiful people. beautiful work. God is good :)
