God's kindesses....

(a toy is total joy)

the other day i realized something that was very sweet to me. a moment where i saw life going full circle in the most personal way.

i was at the property and realized how perfect it is that i am here for this exact phase of the project... i have always loved construction sites because i grew up with my dad being a custom home builder. and my mom did a lot of the interior design for the spec homes he built. i absolutely love love home decor and creating beautiful spaces. it feels shallow to love that type of thing so much, but i love color and texture and lighting and making a home feel homey 🥰.

so to be at a massive construction site and be on mission to transform an entire brand new floor into an inviting space for girls who have had nothing.... well, it gives me pure joy ❤️. times like this when you see how our Father orchestrates all the things.... it just humbles me big time.

(Bible verses on many vehicles)

(beds being fabricating at warp speed)

(washing windows because it had been bugging me which is stupid because there are messes everywhereeeee.

and then the cherry 🍒 on top? an acre of beautiful land for goats to graze.

now, if we could just secure the goats 🫠. never in forever did i think finding dairy goats would be this challenging. at the moment, i am waiting on a call from the vet. choosing to trust that He will deliver on time.

monday was relatively low key spent talking with james and damas, the painters, and changing some ceiling colors, talking with judy of duracoat paint on making curtain sheers, washing mirrored windows with baby wipes lol, giving toys to the kids, and meeting stephen and his mechanic friend joshua at itibo (joshua came from nairobi to work on our car... the roads here are brutal and that's being kind).

(now building three retaining walls to keep storm water and mud from getting to base of structures)

tuesday and wednesday we shopped. and shopped. and shopped. and sweat. and tripped on cra-cra walkways. and drank coffee. and shopped more.

(sewing couch cushions)

39 comforters, 2 couches, 2 lovesests, 2 coffee tables, 4 end tables, 2 rugs, 2 throw blankets, 6 mirrors, and 4 throw pillows later, we were done. not really done done but we exhausted every side shop that had bedding or furniture within a thirty mile radius.

amazon, oh amazon, how i miss thee 🤪.

and a stephen shout out that cannot begin to touch what an incredible human he is. a devout man of God, husband, father, student in master's degree program, owner of large construction firm, investor in private business ventures, and holder of fuzzy pillows at the end of a long day 😜. the rescue center would not be what it is if it weren't for stephen. he has done dozens and dozens of things big and small that are so beyond the role of construction company contractor. we absolutely adore him.

signing off as we move toward crunch time this weekend 🩷 so many things should come together quickly! and then home sweet home next week!

i am so blessed to have two places ---- ones that couldn't be more of a 180° from each other --- that feel like home.

(trying to find the potty behind the furniture shop.... this is a day in the life of living in kenya. a beautiful mess. literally.)

  2. The uniqueness of each of your selections for the bedrooms is so special. No boring one color but colors and styles to celebrate a new life and a future full of Gods grace and love. You and Lydia were meant to be the catalyst in creating the center to be a home. Just like each of your homes back here…..
